We are located at 7520 Westshire Drive in Lansing, Michigan. This was previously an open-concept office building, so we spent summer 2023 renovating it into a beautiful space that met school requirements and had a layout that works for us.
Before & Afters
Thanks to Our Sponsors:
Since 2019, Cedar Classical Academy has grown from 31 to 104 students and from grades K-6 to K-10, prompting a search to add classroom space beginning in 2021. We could not have imagined that endeavor would lead us here—to purchasing our own building in 2023! Here are three big reasons why we chose to buy our own place.
Starter Home
We are calling this little building our “starter home.” Do you remember your first home? While not perfect, your first home always carries with it some nostalgia because of what it represents: the establishment of your family and of your family’s culture. This is what we hope this building can be for Cedar Classical Academy.
Brick & Mortar Vision
In purchasing a building, we have the luxury and opportunity to make our classical Christian vision concrete and tangible. In our previous rented space, Cedar Classical Academy disappeared every weekend and all summer, and we did not have a street sign. These were reasonable constraints on a fledgling school, but we are always asking ourselves, “How can we better communicate our mission and vision?” Through our changes to and maintenance of our new property, we can say something about what we value—beauty. We can help visitors, passers-by, parents, and students gain a deeper understanding of Cedar’s mission.
Strategic Pivot
As we add 11th-12th grades over the next two years, with our own building we can put Cedar on a path to strategically and incrementally upgrade its facility as it grows without outpacing its cultural strength and financial capacity. This is a major change - on a minor scale.
